David was saved in November 1990 in the Montgomery County Jail in Dayton. Bro. Gresham had preached there a few weeks before, and planted the seed
of the Gospel in David's heart. God worked in the heart of the judge, and David was sentenced to five years' probation in November 1991. David has been
in evangelism full-time since March, 1997. God has saved many through his tract, Life in the Fast Lane. The tract has been translated into several
different languages (Spanish, Nepalese, Mongolian, Russian, Dutch, and Telugu) and distributed around the world.
To order the Fast Lane tract, please email Yvonne, our secretary, or call the church at 937-567-7929.
The tract is available in English and Spanish through us.
David, Susan, and Evay
September 2008 prayer letter
Dear Praying Friends,
Greetings in the name of our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. Susan, Evay, and I are doing well in the wild, wild, west. We just finished a meeting with a church we'd never been to before, namely Bible Baptist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pastor McKenzie and his people were a real blessing. Many lives have been forever changed by the faithfulness of this preacher and his precious family.
It has been a fruitful summer, spiritually. We had good meetings in upstate New York, western Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, and Ohio before beginning this trip west at the end of August. God has been extremely gracious, as always. We've seen around twenty saved in church services, and eleven more saved in juvenile detention centers. We've seen some good altar calls, and we've had a few meetings where the altar remained nearly vacant. Signs of the times, no doubt.
This year has been one of great struggles as well. I won't bore you with the details. I know we all have trials. But I will say this, having my bus fall on me in 2003, and having it catch fire while going down the road in 2006, pales in comparison to the trials of 2008. Going to jail in Toronto after being "denied entry" to Canada was a picnic compared to what's gone on this year.
2 Corinthians 4:8 says: "We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;" Here's why. Verse 17 says: "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;".
We've experienced some things this year of a magnitude previously unimaginable, but God has been faithful. I preach that people are way more likely to seek Him in the rough times, so He put me to the test. He has been more real to me this year than ever. I shudder to recall all the years I wasted without Him as my strong tower.
The Lord has laid it on my heart to try to reach the crowd I used to run with. No, I'm not growing a fumanchu (my wife and daughter wouldn't let me) or a pony tail. I'm not getting a John 3:16 tattoo. I don't even own a motorcycle. I may be able to get the Gospel to some of the many thousands involved in the "biker lifestyle" through a book of my extensive experience with the Harley Davidson, and my fifteen years in motorcycle gangs. Please pray about this project. I believe the Lord is in it.
Please pray for my dad. He is a saved, 90 year old, WWII combat veteran who is normally very healthy, but is experiencing some health problems at the moment. He is undergoing various tests and I am asking for prayer for him. His name is Joe Charles Spurgeon. He is my hero.
We thank the Lord the motor home is doing well, we're all healthy, and our schedule is full. Thank you for your prayers for us. We are content, and looking for the Lord to come back soon. I hope you are.
