Bro. Hargis began attending Charity Baptist Church in 1980 at the age of eight, three years after Dr. Greg Estep started the church. He received
Christ as Savior on September 4, 1988 after attending youth camp at Bill Rice Ranch in Tennessee.
Brian served in the active U. S. Army from 1991-1994, and active U.S. Army Special Forces from 1995-1997 and from 2002-2003. In the Army
National Guard, he served as a Special Forces Sergeant in 19th SFG(A) from 1995-2003; as the Senior Drill Sergeant in the Richmond, Indiana Army
Reserves from 2003-2005; and as a Team Sergeant for 19th SFG(A) from 2005-2007. Brian took a direct commission from MSG (E-8) to 1LT (0-2) in
December 2007, and became the Battalion Chaplain for 2/19th SFG(A).
As a civilian, Brian majored in Criminal Justice at Sinclair College from 1997-1999, and worked as a police officer for the city of Dayton from
1999-2003. He began teaching Sunday school and preaching in 2001, and surrendered to God's call to preach shortly thereafter. Brian was appointed
as the Assistant Pastor in November of 2002 and left the police department in September 2003, when he was added to the full-time staff.
He earned his BA in 2004 and Master of Divinity in 2007 from Great Plains Baptist Divinity School. He is currently working on his doctorate
in theology.
Bro. Murphy, a Navy veteran, will take the position of assistant pastor after Bro. Hargis becomes a full-time Army chaplain. Picture and more
