February was our month to visit the Heartland of Kettering retirement home. Led by the ministry workers, Bro. Scott Taylor and his wife Janet,
the teens sang several favorite hymns such as Amazing Grace, What a Day That Will Be, and It Is Well With My Soul. They also gave testimonies
of how good God has been. Bro. Taylor conducted the service and preached, followed by the Youth Minister, Brian Hargis. It was a great service
and we were pleased to be there.
This event was crazy whack (as Paul would say)! We had a large group of teens show up and bowl for two hours. Dawn was our top leader for
the girls, and our newest visitor Adam was the top leader fro the boys. After bowling, we went back to the church for pizza and the movie, "Facing the Giants".
The 2007 ProTeen Banquet was one of our most spectacular banquets of all time. Each year it seems to get just a little better! Evangelist Phil Schipper was the
guest speaker; Paul Miller was the ProTeen of the year, and Dawn Gresham and LeeAnna Gresham took 2nd and 3rd places, respectively. Liberty was our graduating senior,
and we'll sure miss her!
Our Veterans' Outreach like no other. The teens made hundreds of personalized cards and letters to give out to the hospitalized veterans at the V.A. Hospital
in Dayton, Ohio. Organized by the youth director, Brian Hargis, a U.S. Army Special Forces Master Sergeant, the teens canvassed the entire hospital and took time
to meet and greet every veteran available. We thanked them for their service to our country, and left them with cards and letters of appreciation. Youth minister
Joe Miller stated, "You should have seen the tears in the eyes of some of those old veterans. Many of them could not speak because they were so overwhelmed
with gratitude."
November 16, 2007 was our annual Progressive Dinner. The theme for this year was Italian. Many thanks to all of the cooks who opened their homes to the
teens and made this a successful event. We stuffed and gorged until we couldn't eat any more!
This was our second year that we had the lock-in party at the gymnasium at Cornerstone Baptist Temple. We thank Pastor Siler and the church for allowing
us to use the facility. There were four churches represented at the Lock-In; Charity Baptist Church (Beavercreek, Ohio), Miltonville Baptist Church (Milford,
Ohio), South Dayton Baptist Church (Moraine, Ohio), and Twin Valley Baptist Church (Eaton, Ohio). Many thanks to all the workers who helped with this event!
You were a tremendous help to make this a successful evening. We also are very appreciative of the special preaching service by Bro. David Yocum, and the
testimonies of Ritchie Moody (former pitcher for Texas Rangers and Oklahoma State University) and Pastor Steve Thornhill (former heavy metal rocker
and guitarist). The best thing about this evening was the fact that there were about 11 teens (of the 73 present) that trusted Jesus Christ as their Saviour!
Now that's AWESOME!
